Discover the South of France at one of its most beautiful moments of the year.
Our September watercolour holiday is a small-group creative escape into the villages, vineyards and golden landscapes of southern France, guided by artist Simon Roberts.
Early September brings a different kind of magic. The intense heat of summer begins to soften, the light becomes warmer and more golden, the vineyards are heavy with grapes, and village life settles into a slower, richer rhythm. It is a wonderful time to paint.
Staying in a characterful traditional village house, you’ll spend the week exploring some of the region’s most inspiring locations — ancient streets, local markets, old stone buildings, rolling vineyards, rustic mills and the Mediterranean coast.
Each day includes structured tuition, demonstrations and plenty of individual guidance, helping you develop your watercolour and sketching skills while capturing the atmosphere of this beautiful part of France.
With the group limited to just 8 painters, the experience feels intimate, relaxed and personal. There is space to learn, space to connect, and space to enjoy the simple pleasures that make the South of France so special.
Expect long lunches, local flavours, shared meals, gentle discoveries, sketchbook moments, and the kind of creative reset that stays with you long after you return home.
Whether you are a confident painter or still finding your way with watercolour, Simon will meet you where you are and help you grow your confidence throughout the week.
Come and paint the South of France in its golden season.
